Empire returns this week right where it left off last December - Camilla is back, Lucious is off the board, and Rhonda lies unconscious at the bottom of that big staircase. In anticipation of the spring premiere, showrunner Ilene Chaiken took some time to tease journalists about what we can expect in the back half of the season.
“The eight episodes that begin on March 30
th are much more about the family,” she explained, and that means “far fewer” guest stars. “The guest stars that are in those episodes are there to serve the stories and are driven by the stories. Every single person that appears on the show is on the show because we’re telling a story.”
On the other hand, fewer guests mean more screen time for Lucious! And while Chaiken maintains that she doesn’t have a favorite character, she admitted that “the story that I’m most excited about in the latter half of this season or the character whom I’ve most enjoyed is Lucious.
