Tonight Syfy premieres an all new episode of its series The Magicians, based on the book series by Lev Grossman. The story follows Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) who discovers that magic is real and becomes a student at Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy.

The students all have a special discipline, including Quentin's classmate, Penny, played by Arjun Gupta, who can "travel."

Recently Gupta sat down with Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview to talk about his work on the series.

The actor first talked about how he got the role of Penny, and why he took it on. "I got an appointment to audition for the script. It was in August when I was working on How to Get Away with Murder, and I skimmed it, and I saw Sera Gamble's name on it. I had worked with Sera a couple years before on a pilot, and so I was excited to go in for her, to talk with her, and just work with her on her projects.

Set in the near future, Colony follows a family in an occupied Los Angeles. Will (Josh Holloway) agrees to collaborate with the occupational government to help protect their family and hopefully get their son back, who they were separated from during the invasion. Meanwhile, his wife, Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies), secretly works for the Resistance and fights for their freedom.

Peter Jacobson, who is probably best known for his role as Dr. Taub on the series House, plays the character of Proxy Snyder, the leader of the Green Zone in occupied Los Angeles, who may be able to help them get their son back. In tonight's all new episode, he is trapped with Will and Katie during a chase threatening his life.

Yesterday Jacobson talked to the media about his work on the series.

In this week's episode, written and directed by series creator, Chris Carter, "Babylon," when terrorists bomb an art gallery for showing offensive artwork, Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are visited by younger agents on the case (Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose), who bare a resemblance to themselves. The two are looking for a way to speak to the one comatose bomber who survived, to find out who is behind the attack and stop any further attacks. Mulder and Scully use their own different beliefs to try to find answers. Some old friends and foes also show up.

SYFY GREENLIGHTS ORIGINAL SCI-FI THRILLER PROTOTYPE TO PILOT

NEW YORK – February 12, 2016 – Syfy today announced it has greenlit to pilot the original sci-fi thriller PROTOTYPE, written by Tony Basgallop (“24: Live Another Day”). PROTOTYPE centers on three unlikely cohorts who inadvertently stumble upon an invention that challenges the very nature of quantum physics – a discovery which in turn puts their lives in grave danger.

USA NETWORK ANNOUNCES SERIES PICK-UP FOR ‘SHOOTER’

UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – February 10, 2016 – USA Network announced a series pick-up for SHOOTER, a drama based on the best-selling Bob Lee Swagger novel by Stephen Hunter, Point of Impact, and the 2007 Paramount film starring Mark Wahlberg.  The co-production with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions comes from executive producers Wahlberg (“Ballers,” “Boardwalk Empire”) of Closest to the Hole Productions; Stephen Levinson (“Ballers,” “Boardwalk Empire”) of Leverage Entertainment; and Lorenzo di Bonaventura ("Transformers," "The Real O'Neals").  John Hlavin (“The Shield”) wrote the pilot and will also executive produce.  Simon Cellan Jones (“Bloodline”) directed the pilot.

SYFY RENEWS ORIGINAL DRAMA SERIES THE MAGICIANS FOR SECOND SEASON

NEW YORK – February 3, 2016 – Syfy announced today it has greenlit to series INCORPORATED, a futuristic thriller from Matt Damon, Ben Affleck & Jennifer Todd’s Pearl Street Films, CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions. The 13-episode first season of the new drama series is expected to premiere on Syfy in Fall 2016.
 
Set in a near future where corporations have unlimited power, INCORPORATED centers around Ben Larson (Sean Teale, “Reign”), a young executive who conceals his true identity to infiltrate a very dangerous corporate world to save the woman he loves. But he’ll soon learn that he’s not the only one whose secrets may have deadly consequences.

Last week Freeform's Shadowhunters, which is based on the Cassandra Clare book series, The Mortal Instruments, introduced the character of Meliorn. The actor who plays the faerie knight, Jade Hassouné, recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his work on the show.

The actor auditioned for other roles on the series before he got Meliorn, which he thinks was perfect for him. "It was an audition, just a regular audition. I got to audition for Alaric first, and from that I got a call back about a week later for Raphael Santiago, and then a week later for Meliorn, and by that point I'd really delved into it, and I think Meliorn was the perfect one. And from that audition, I got a call back, which was my final call back.

"And then it happened really, really fast. I mean, the whole process took about a month, but then everything happened really, really quickly after that. You know, after that, I was on set probably about a week later.

I've already posted a spoiler-free review of the episode, but now that it's aired I wanted to include some more specific thoughts before moving onto the full recap below, which includes quotes.

The X-Files delivers a classic in this week’s comedic episode. Whether you're a diehard fan of The X-Files or not, episode three, "Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster," should delight you. It's one of the trademark quirky, funny episodes. Even better, if you are a fan, you'll love it for all the references/injokes to previous moments on the show.

Darin Morgan did an excellent job with the script. Scully says it perfectly in the episode, “Oh yeah, this is how I like my Mulder.” The episode truly feels like it could fit somewhere into the old series (minus the technology jokes, which were so funny), as the show hits its stride again, making the episode an instant classic.

The episode focuses on a man-sized lizard, who after being bit by a man, turns into a human. The were-lizard is brilliantly played by guest star Rhys Darby.

Kumail Nanjiani, who guest stars as Pasha, is also very funny in the episode, especially when he is acting alongside David Duchovny.
